The Registered Nursing (RN) program at Tyler Junior College is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. This program, typically an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), encompasses a rigorous curriculum that integrates classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and hands-on clinical experiences. Students will learn to assess patients’ health status, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families. The program emphasizes critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and effective communication. A key goal of the RN program is to prepare graduates for successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which is required for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Upon graduation and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN, graduates will be prepared to enter the nursing profession and provide compassionate care in a variety of healthcare settings.
