The Registered Nursing (RN) program at the University of Tennessee-Martin (or a similar program) is designed to prepare students for a challenging and rewarding career in nursing. This program, typically culminating in an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), provides a strong foundation in nursing theory and clinical practice. Students will learn about human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, mental health nursing, and maternal-child nursing. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. This includes working with patients in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health organizations. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), a standardized exam required for licensure as a registered nurse. The overarching goal of the program is to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and compassion necessary to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care and to contribute to the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
