A Registered Nursing (RN) program, such as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is designed to prepare students to become licensed and practicing registered nurses. These programs typically span two years and involve a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and hands-on clinical experiences. The curriculum covers foundational nursing concepts, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and nutrition, as well as specialized topics such as medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, mental health nursing, and community health nursing. A primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients across the lifespan and in diverse healthcare settings. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice, enabling graduates to make informed decisions and contribute to positive patient outcomes. The program is also focused on preparing students to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN examination, a national licensure exam required for RN practice.
