Southwestern Community College, like many community colleges, likely offers several pathways to becoming a nurse, typically including ADN, LPN, and RN options. While a BSN program is less common at a community college, articulation agreements with four-year universities may allow students to complete their ADN and then transfer to a university to earn a BSN. The ADN program prepares students for entry-level RN positions through a combination of classroom instruction, lab simulations, and clinical rotations. The LPN program focuses on basic nursing skills and direct patient care under the supervision of RNs or physicians. Graduates of both programs must pass the NCLEX exam to become licensed. Emphasis is placed on providing high-quality, compassionate care, and developing strong communication and critical thinking skills. The programs are designed to meet the healthcare needs of the Southwestern Iowa community.
