The Registered Nursing (RN) program at Carl Sandburg College, typically an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), provides students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experiences necessary to become competent and compassionate registered nurses. This rigorous program prepares graduates to provide direct patient care across the lifespan and in various healthcare settings. The curriculum is designed to integrate nursing theory with practical application, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice. Students learn to assess patients’ health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families. A significant portion of the program involves clinical rotations, allowing students to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced nurses. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) and, upon passing, become licensed Registered Nurses, ready to enter the workforce and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
