The Registered Nursing (RN) program at New River Community and Technical College, like most Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) programs, is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level practice as registered nurses. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in the biological, social, and behavioral sciences, as well as nursing theory and clinical practice. Students learn to assess patients’ health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and their families. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare settings, allowing students to gain hands-on experience and apply their knowledge under the supervision of experienced nurses. The program’s primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to diverse patient populations. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination, which is required for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
