An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program, often simply referred to as an RN program, is a two-year educational path designed to prepare individuals for a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. The program focuses on equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide direct patient care in various healthcare settings. Curriculum typically includes foundational sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry, as well as core nursing courses covering medical-surgical, maternal-newborn, pediatric, and mental health nursing. Clinical rotations form a significant portion of the program, providing hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced nurses. A primary goal is to prepare graduates to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN examination and obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills. Upon graduation and licensure, RNs can work in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health organizations.
