The Registered Nursing (RN) program at the University of South Carolina-Upstate, like most ADN or ASN programs, is designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as registered nurses. The program’s primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professional values necessary to provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care across diverse populations and healthcare settings. Students will learn to assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team. The curriculum integrates theoretical coursework with hands-on clinical experiences, allowing students to apply their learning in real-world situations. A significant emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making to ensure graduates are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), the licensing exam required to practice as a registered nurse.
