A Registered Nursing (RN) program, such as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and clinical experiences necessary to become competent and compassionate registered nurses. The program curriculum typically includes coursework in biological and behavioral sciences, nursing theory, and clinical practice. Students learn how to assess patients’ health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and their families. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to clinical rotations, where students gain hands-on experience in various healthcare settings under the supervision of experienced nurses. The ultimate goal of an RN program is to prepare graduates to pass the NCLEX-RN examination and enter the nursing profession as qualified and ethical practitioners, capable of providing safe and effective care to diverse patient populations. Graduates from URI’s program will be prepared to address Rhode Island’s healthcare needs.
