A Registered Nursing (RN) program, such as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to become licensed registered nurses. The program typically spans two years of intensive study, encompassing a blend of theoretical coursework and hands-on clinical practice. Students learn about fundamental nursing concepts, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and various nursing specialties, including medical-surgical, maternal-child, and mental health nursing. A key component of the program is the clinical practicum, where students apply their learned skills under the supervision of experienced nurses in diverse healthcare settings. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Passing the NCLEX-RN is required to obtain licensure and practice as a registered nurse. The overarching goal of an RN program is to prepare competent and compassionate nurses who can provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care across the lifespan.
