The Registered Nursing (RN) program at the University of New Mexico-Valencia County Campus is designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as registered nurses. This program provides a strong foundation in nursing theory and clinical practice, enabling graduates to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to diverse patient populations. Students learn to assess patients’ health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, which are essential for successful nursing practice. Clinical rotations provide hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills under the supervision of experienced nurses. A key goal of the program is to prepare students to pass the NCLEX-RN examination and become licensed registered nurses, ready to contribute to the healthcare team and make a positive impact on the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
