The Registered Nursing (RN) program at Inver Hills Community College, typically an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is designed to prepare graduates to become competent and compassionate registered nurses. The program provides a solid foundation in nursing theory and practice, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care across the lifespan. Students will learn to assess patient health, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families. The program includes classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and extensive clinical experiences in real-world healthcare settings. A significant emphasis is placed on critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination, and upon passing, become licensed registered nurses, ready to enter the workforce and contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. The program aims to produce entry-level nurses who are prepared to work in a variety of healthcare settings and continue their professional development throughout their careers.
