A Registered Nursing (RN) program, such as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is a comprehensive educational program designed to prepare individuals for a career as a registered nurse. These programs typically involve a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. The goal of an RN program is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, psychiatric-mental health nursing, and community health nursing. Students learn to assess patients’ health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, administer medications, perform treatments, and educate patients and their families. Successful completion of an RN program makes graduates eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, the national licensure examination for registered nurses. Passing the NCLEX-RN is required to obtain licensure and practice as an RN.
