A Registered Nursing (RN) program, such as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is a foundational program designed to prepare individuals for a career as a licensed RN. These programs typically span two years of full-time study and combine classroom instruction with significant clinical experience. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, mental health nursing, and community health nursing. Students learn essential nursing skills, such as medication administration, wound care, patient assessment, and electronic health record documentation. A primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care across the lifespan. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), and upon passing, are granted licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.
