An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to become registered nurses. These programs typically take two years to complete and combine classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, and psychiatric-mental health nursing. A primary goal of the program is to prepare graduates to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills, effective communication, and ethical decision-making. Clinical rotations provide invaluable real-world experience in various healthcare settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills under the supervision of experienced nurses. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, the national licensure exam for registered nurses. Passing this exam allows graduates to practice as registered nurses.
