The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program, also known as an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), is a two-year program designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse (RN). The program focuses on providing a strong foundation in nursing theory, principles, and clinical skills necessary for entry-level practice. Students learn to provide direct patient care, administer medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making within the nursing profession. Clinical rotations are a crucial component, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam, graduates are eligible to become licensed RNs and begin their careers in various medical environments such as hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation facilities. The College of Marin’s RN program aims to produce compassionate, skilled, and competent nurses ready to meet the ever-evolving needs of the healthcare industry and provide quality care to diverse patient populations.
