The Registered Nursing (RN) program at Southern Union State Community College is designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as registered nurses. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Students will learn essential nursing concepts, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, and mental health nursing. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge and develop their clinical skills under the supervision of experienced registered nurses. The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
